How Much Does a Limo Cost? Limo Prices Explained
Limo prices vary a lot, and a single “per hour” number rarely tells the whole story. This guide explains what actually goes into the price of a limo or car service, so you can compare quotes fairly and avoid surprises.
The four things that set the price
The vehicle: a sedan costs less than a stretch limo, which costs less than a party bus or coach.
Time or distance: airport and point-to-point trips are priced by distance; events by the hour or as a package.
The date: spring Saturdays (prom and wedding season) and holidays are the most in demand.
Extras: tolls, parking, extra stops, waiting beyond the free period and gratuity.
Airport and point-to-point rides

Most car services charge a base fare plus mileage. At NYC Transportation, the base fare covers the first 15 miles and a per-mile rate applies after that, so a short local transfer and a long airport run are both priced fairly. Waiting is free for 15 minutes on standard pickups and 60 minutes after landing for airport arrivals.
Hourly limo service
For nights out and errands, you pay an hourly rate for the vehicle and keep the car and chauffeur for as long as you book. Ask whether a quote includes the time to reach your pickup; some companies bill garage to garage.
Prom and wedding limos
Proms and weddings are usually priced per vehicle for the event, and wedding packages often come in versions: full day, transfers only, or a vintage car for photos. Book early: the best vehicles go first in April, May and June.
Fees, tax, tolls and tip
Compare the total, not the headline rate. Our booking form shows the base price, an administration fee and tax before you pay; tolls, parking and gratuity may be extra unless stated. See how much to tip a limo driver.
See your actual price
The fastest way to know is to check: pick your date, occasion and vehicle in the booking form. It shows only vehicles with a price for that occasion, and the full total before you pay.
Frequently asked questions
Is a limo cheaper than a party bus?
Per vehicle, yes. Per person, a party bus is often cheaper once your group is over about 20 people.
Why is prom limo pricing higher than a weekday ride?
Prom nights are some of the busiest of the year, and limos are booked for a longer block of time.
Are tolls included in limo prices?
Not always. Check the quote; with NYC Transportation, tolls, parking and gratuity may be added as set out in the booking terms.
